My name is Kylie Field and I am a certified Postpartum Doula (DONA) and certified Infant Massage Instructor (IAIM) in Halifax and Bedford HRM, Nova Scotia. My role as a Postpartum Doula's role is to support your family during a time of adjustment. I am there to assist you and your partner in your new roles as parents so you more easily bond with, and take care of your baby. The first weeks home with a newborn are very exciting times as you learn more about yourselves and your baby. These may also be challenging times. In the past, families had extensive support systems of women who helped to care for the new mother and her baby. Today, this is not always the case, so a Postpartum Doula steps in to nurture the whole family. Postpartum support can be in the form of breastfeeding advice and help or - longer term, in helping out in the home as you adjust to life with your new baby. I am well trained in the art of breastfeeding and infant care. I am caring, supportive and nurture the whole family as they integrate the newborn into their lives. I have knowledge of postpartum maternal physical and emotional needs, and all aspects of newborn care. I do not give medical advice, but am able to make and suggest appropriate referrals within the community. I am also a certified Infant Massage Instructor (IAIM). Please refer to the "About Kylie" page for more information on Infant Massage Instruction.
